WeaverBird is an organic clothing brand that works directly with the farmers, weavers and tailors to create beautifully designed sustainable clothing. Every garment of WeaverBird is a labour of love, love for the planet, love for fellow beings and love for good design. We aim to be a responsible brand that takes care of the ecological, social and economic aspect of the society.
Founder
Medha Shah, was born into a family, entrenched in principles of Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave. Her grandfather worked tirelessly for the Sarvodaya movement. Medha grew up in an atmosphere, where Non-Violence was a way of life. Her father works with small and marginalised organic farmers.
Given her background, Medha has a sound understanding of Gandhian principles and the Khadi movement as well as the ordeals of organic farmers in India. WeaverBird is a coming together of an aspiration to combine this knowledge to help and uplift organic cotton farmers and artisans working with hand spun and handwoven cloth.
WeaverBird promotes organic, handspun and handwoven cotton as a conscious fashion choice. WeaverBird works with farmers’ group in Rajkot, Gujarat, who cultivate organic GM free cotton and is processed by a rural artisans’ group. She hopes to set a trend in the culture of sustainable clothing and provide sustainable livelihoods to the otherwise dying rural artisans group.
